Milton Keynes training centre now offers National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs)

Date Posted: 07/01/2009

Best Training in Milton Keynes has added yet another string to its bow by rolling out a programme of National Vocational Qualifications at Level 2.

In these difficult economic times, having well-qualified staff can only help to improve the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of any business.  Best Training is your local learndirect centre, and we can now offer National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) at Level 2 in:

  • Customer Service;
  • Business & Administration;
  • IT (the ITQ).

These nationally recognised programmes have been designed by employers to meet the needs of today's businesses, and the resulting qualification will show that staff are consistently able to work to an acceptable standard in a wide range of circumstances.

NVQs through learndirect are really flexible - students can start any time, there are no formal entry qualifications, and they are open to all those over 18.  Training and assessments take place mainly in the workplace, and our expert tutors are there to help throughout the programme.  Best of all, for most students who do not already have a level 2 qualification it is likely that we can arrange for the Government - through the Train To Gain programme - to pay all learning and exam costs.

Come and find out more at our FREE BUSINESS BREAKFAST on Tuesday 20th January 2009.  Call 01908 239251 or 01908 261204 for an invitation (prior registration essential).

What is the Train to Gain programme?

Train to Gain is the national skills Service that supports employers of all sizes and in all sectors to improve the skills of their employees as a route to improving business performance.   More information at http://www.traintogainse.co.uk/

What are National Vocational Qualifications?  (NVQs)

An NVQ at Level 2 is equivalent to 5 GCSE's grade A* to C.  Level 2 candidates need to show competence in varied work activities, some more complex and needing the person to exercise individual responsibility, and to show collaboration with others.

NVQs are work related - based on doing a job effectively.  Candidates work to a set of standards, which are statements of what is expected of a competent person in that job.  Main aspects of the job are covered, such as best practice, and the knowledge and understanding that goes along with the job.  Open to full and part-time employees, over the age of 18.

NVQs are achieved through assessment and training.  On the job observation and questioning is supported by practical evidence being produced and signed off when satisfactory by the programme assessor

Candidates build up a portfolio of evidence and compare their performance with national standards - What have I achieved? How much do I need to know? How will I go about achieving it?
